Fried Eggs, Wild Rice & Kale

Remember me? One time frequent blogger who’s been sucked into the Columbia postbac pre-med program, swallowed by terrifying Physics tests and crippling amounts of work?

I’m alive! I’m eating all the things! Today I added some kale to leftover wild rice and poured a glug of soy sauce and a squirt of sricacha in the pan. Once the kale was wilted, I set the rice and greens aside and fried up two eggs. A hearty lunch is necessary to make it through my classes today, which end at 10:30pm.

Using MUA eye shadow palette in ‘Dusk til Dawn’ Get this look:

Step 1: Prime and apply your foundation to your eyelid, Then with a medium eye shadow brush sweep the mint green shade over the eyelid and stop at the crease.

Step 2: With a small eye shadow brush apply the mint green eye shadow to the inner corner of the eyes.

Step 3: Apply your favourite cream black kohl pencil into the water line, lash line and extend this into the crease of the eye.

Step 4: With an angled brush set the black kohl into the water line, lash line with the deep purple shade from the palette.

Step 5: With a fluffy brush- Blend, blend! It’s the key to all bold statement looks.Add the lightest cream shadow to the brow bone to make the eyes pop!

Step 6: Line your top lash line with a black liquid eyeliner.

Step 7: Finally apply your favourite mascara to bring the look together- or even add false eye lashes.

What else is so simultaneously fabulous and sinister? Ummm, I can’t think of anything else. Maybe that’s why topiaries are featured in books from Edward Gorey works to Grandpa Green. Hedge mazes are also amazing (The Shining!), but that’s a post for another time.

We just celebrated my kid’s 6th birthday with a Wheel Rally (followed by a Throwup Rally, unfortch), and it was superfun — even the normally rainy SF weather cooperated and gave us an afternoon that was sunny and up into the 70s. Everyone brought their bike-scooter-skates-stroller and did an obstacle course and generally raced around the playground.

But enough about that party, how about THIS for a swell idea: A Body Birthday Party! Love the skeleton cake (turns out white fondant = cartoony bones) and eyeball pinata. Bam!
